About us — growing South Africa one payment at a time

About Pay@ — since 2007

growing south africa,
one payment at a time.

Payment systems are the backbone of an economy, and we work to make them reach everyone. That means a platform which feels personal, behaves like a payment partner rather than a vendor, and takes the friction out of settling a bill. Today that runs across 40+ payment networks spanning retailers, banks, mobile apps, telcos and digital methods.

What we stand for

We keep going further.

Service is ideology in action. Every transaction gets attention, and our values decide how we behave when something needs sorting out.

Following the energy with purpose

We are honest, collaborative, and accountable about performance.

Giving more than we receive

We foster partnerships and never compromise on support.

Executing with zero defects

Our actions stay agile, so we can offer a different way of thinking.

What we’ve done

Nineteen years of
Southern African payments.

How people want to pay for goods and services has never stood still, and the demand for both in-person and digital transactions keeps widening. Since 2007 we have been processing transactions across Southern Africa, including Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia, so that billers and their customers reach each other without friction.

  • Bill presentment and collection for leading South African billers
  • A retail footprint that reaches customers with no bank account and no card
  • Digital channels across banks, banking apps, wallets and QR
  • Automated reconciliation and one consolidated settlement per biller
Social impact

Inclusivity is the approach.

We put time and money into productive work environments, digital literacy and the skills pipeline this industry depends on.

To help close the skills gap in South Africa, Pay@ donates desktop computers and funds scholarships for students reading for computer science degrees. Thank you once more for helping our students. It was a pleasure working with you and witnessing the students’ gratitude for the laptop donations, which will be used to raise the calibre of research at the institution. Moving forward, we look forward to a continued partnership.

Pay@ funds partners driving digital literacy with equipment and financial support. We would like to thank Pay@ for their donation to this new venture. Their investment in Lückhoff Digital Hub and their donation allowed us to purchase cameras and extend the impact by providing training not only at their sponsored hub but also at the other 8 hubs.
